Wallace on form as Owls return to winning ways

20 September 2015

Ross Wallace says Wednesday were made to work hard for the three points on Saturday against Fulham.

The visitors applied late pressure at Hillsborough in search of an equaliser but the Owls held firm to post a welcomed three points.

Delighted with how Wednesday battled for their first league victory since the opening day, Wallace said:

“We’re certainly happy. In the last 20-25 minutes we went a little bit deep but that’s the Championship, sometimes you need to roll your sleeves up.

“I said at the start of the season, you just need to fight it out and we did that.”

On his return to the side, Wallace proved instrumental in the victory over Fulham with a hand in all three goals.

The former Burnley man claimed three assists with his quality set piece deliveries and gave the Cottagers a torrid time from out wide.

He added: “It was good for me to get three assists from three set pieces but when you’ve got the likes of Turner, Lees and Atdhe in the box, it’s easy for me.

“I just put it into a decent area and these boys are attacking it well.”

He added: “I want to play every game, if you ask any player they’ll say they want to play every match.

“But we have a good squad with a lot of quality, especially in midfield. We’ve got good players who can come in so there are plenty of options for the head coach.”
