Carlos Carvalhal said he was happy but disappointed at the same time followong the Owls’ 1-1 draw against play-off rivals Derby County at the iPro Stadium.

Barry Bannan opened the scoring for Wednesday in the second half with a stunning lob over Rams goalkeeper Scott Carson.

The home side drew level when Johnny Russell’s cross was headed in at the far post by England international Darren Bent.

Carvalhal said: “Today the game was very balanced so I am happy but disappointed we did not get the win.

“We scored a good goal, it’s something that we know Bannan is capable of.

“For their goal, this is football, I don’t we did anything wrong in the defence because it was a good cross.

“Both teams had chances and we wanted the win, but we will take the point and look forward to the next game against Cardiff.”

The Owls face the Bluebirds next week at Hillsborough in a key battle for the final play-off place.

The head coach added: “We are not in the play-offs yet and we need to keep focused on the next match.

“I know our fans will bring a very good atmosphere next week at Hillsborough.

“We will keep doing what we do and try to win all of the games until the end of the season.”
