A top quality Championship affair

22 April 2016

On paper, it certainly looks one of the games of the weekend in the Sky Bet Championship.

Top six rivals Owls and Derby go head to head on Saturday at The iPro Stadium and Tom Lees says everyone is looking forward to the occasion.

Derby have already confirmed their place in the end of season play-offs and while Wednesday have the opportunity to do the same this weekend, Lees says the Owls need to maintain performance levels and find that little extra to see them over the line.

He said: “We need to get the same high levels of performances out of everyone and to keep creating chances.

“When you watch the top teams over the last few weeks, there have been so many late goals in the games.

“They are all getting that little bit extra out of themselves when it looked like being a draw and I think that’s what we’ll have to get hold of in the next few weeks.”

Looking forward to tomorrow’s clash with the Rams, who sit one place and six points above the Owls, Lees continued:

“Derby have hit form at the right time but we’ve always known they are capable of doing that with the squad they have.

“But we feel we’ve got as much as them going into the game, it’s a big game and it will be a top quality Championship affair.

“We’re looking forward to it.”
