#ClassOf91 success!

15 April 2016

On Thursday evening – in conjunction with the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme – Wednesday’s famous team of 1990/91 reunited to re-live the fantastic memories from that season.

It’s 25 years since the Owls lifted the Rumbelows Cup after defeating Manchester United at Wembley before going on to secure a return to the top flight.

The special evening was hosted impeccably by Community Programme ambassador, Wednesdayite and Sky Sports News HQ presenter David Garrido in front of around 1,000 supporters at Magna.

Throughout the evening, the gathered Wednesdayites watched back key moments from the season on the big screens, heard from the players that shone during that era, the backroom staff including Richie Barker and Alan Smith and of course, the manager, Big Ron.

From John Sheridan’s recollection of the big moment at Wembley, 32-goal striker David Hirst’s tales on and off the pitch, Roland Nilsson on his time with Wednesday and much, much more – everything was covered throughout the evening!

With the famous trophy present on the night, fans were able to pose for photographs with the cup and meet their heroes from the class of 91.

Overall, the night proved a roaring success and Sheffield Wednesday would like to thank everyone who came together to celebrate that memorable period in our history.
