Growing up as a team

7 April 2016

Wednesday last met Bristol City on the opening day of the Championship campaign.

On that occasion, the Owls triumphed with a 2-0 win at Hillsborough but Carlos Carvalhal says plenty has changed since then.

As Wednesday prepare to face the Robins for the second time this season, Carlos firmly believes his team has done a lot of growing up since the early throes of the season and said:

“The game feels like it was three Championships before! We’ve played a lot of games since that game, we’ve come a long way, a long travel but a nice travel.

“It’s a long time that has seen a lot of growing up as a team. We were in 19th place at one time near the beginning and we are growing up like a team and like a club.

“A lot of things changed since the first game of the season.

“We are building a team and after we received the players we are improving all the time. We believe that all the time we can win in all the games.”

Now well in the play-off mix and with just six games left to play, the head coach is happy with the balance and has full confidence in his players.

“We are doing this all the season, improving the team our defensive organisation is better and better and we are not taking too many goals.

“The players are better understanding our ideas, they are correcting mistakes, not repeating mistakes and so it’s normal in this moment we have a very good balance.”
