Carlos Carvalhal said there were more positives than negatives to take from the Owls’ 1-1 draw with Ipswich at Hillsborough.
Fernando Forestieri opened the scoring in the first half before teenager Andre Dozzell headed in the equaliser after the break.
Carvalhal said: “There was only one negative from today’s game and that was the score.
“We showed a lot of positives by our reaction from the last game, and the reaction after Ipswich scored.
“They are good team who have ambitions in this league and we played very well against them.
“If we’d taken a couple of our chances then we’d be talking about the win because all of the players had a good game.”
The Owls remain five points clear of Cardiff in seventh place and the head coach feels that his team are now in a stronger position than before today’s contest.
He added: “We now have four games left and we are the same points ahead of Cardiff that we were before the game.
“This means we are in a stronger position and we want to keep focusing so that we always improve our situation.
“We are in a good way and now we get ready to play a tough match against Milton Keynes on Tuesday.”
