For the first time in the supporter group’s history two Owls players have scooped the Wise Old Owls’ Player of the Year award after the pair both recorded level votes.
Fernando Forestieri and Barry Bannan were presented with their trophies today during the fan group’s annual awards gathering in the club’s 1867 lounge.
The awards come on the back of a fine first season at the club for both Forestieri and Bannan, who have played pivotal roles in the club’s rise into the top six.
The pair have been voted as the swfc.co.uk Player of the Month earlier in the year and top scorer Fernando has also picked up the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award twice during the campaign.
Barry said: “It’s great to be awarded this and everyone at Sheffield Wednesday has made me feel so welcome. I’d like to thank everyone who has voted for me and it’s a pleasure to accept the award.”
Fernando said: “It’s been really nice to pick up the award and I really appreciate all the votes from the group."
