Signs of strength

6 April 2016

As the Owls marched on in the Championship on Tuesday evening, Carlos Carvalhal said he is extremely happy with the strong signals the team are giving.

For the fourth successive fixture, Wednesday picked up maximum points against Blackburn Rovers at Hillsborough.

The head coach says his players are thriving in the positive environment at the club and working hard for each other.

He explained: “All the time we are receiving signals from the team that we are very happy about.

“This is important because football is a collective game. We depend on one another, on how much you are creating and that you are all together in the positive environment and have a big soul.”

Carlos believes this point was underlined in the past three games, highlighting Barry Bannan’s absence from the team and how the players came together to fill the void.

He continued: “When we lost Barry Bannan, who is a very important player to us, everybody was a little concerned what will happen and we gave an answer as a team.

“We won the three games that he was missing and now we are happy that Barry is back.

“When we have players missing, then another one comes in and we are doing really very well as a team like this.

“We are happy when we are with a full squad and all the options. With a player like Bannan back for us, we are of course happy.

“I prefer to be with all the players to make it more difficult for me to choose the 18.”
