Versatile defender Sam Hutchinson anticipates a hard Championship season but one for which the Owls are well prepared.
The clock is ticking down on Wednesday’s curtain raiser against Aston Villa and Hutchinson insists the firm foundations are in place for another successful season.
He said: "We are ready to go. I think pre-season's gone fantastic. You've seen our performances.
“We've had some good games, we feel great and we feel well prepared for the start on Sunday."
The 27-year-old reflected on the heart-wrenching loss to Hull in last season's Championship play-off final but says that setback can serve as a positive throughout the season ahead.
He reasoned: "It hurt everyone. And obviously you don’t want to have that again.
“It's in the back of our minds and we can use it as inspiration but we've tried to forget about it
"I think going into a new season you need to keep refreshed. Otherwise, you'd probably have a hangover.
“And if it did happen again and we get in the play-offs, we have that experience."
Hutchinson added: "Obviously, it's a difficult league. You never know what it can bring - it's a hard season. But we just go week by week, and see how we go.
"I think we are all prepared at this level, we've been through this together all of last year.
“We've got a collective group. As a unit we all know what we have got to do. We get trained in it every day. We take the positives and we go again this year.
“We are just trying to do our best for Sheffield Wednesday.”
