Heart, soul and determination

27 August 2016

Carlos Carvalhal said his side showed heart, soul and determination to earn the 1-1 draw against Brentford at Griffin Park.

The Bees took the lead in the second half in bizarre circumstances when the ball bounced fortunately off Lasse Vibe from a Keiren Westwood clearance and found its way into the back of the net.

But the Owls created a glut of chances overall and were finally rewarded when Sam Hutchinson headed an equaliser at the end of a pulsating capital clash.

Carvalhal said: “Today we were the better team, we dominated the ball for many periods. My players were fantastic.

“We created enough chances to win the game, especially in the first half.

“If you ask me if I’m happy with the result of the game I would say no, because we should be winning this match because we played so well.

“Last season we had a turning point when we lost to Burnley and I think this game is the same, we showed how we are a team, together.

“We showed we are from Sheffield, this is why we are workers and how we must fight in the Championship.

“We showed the heart and soul today, even though we didn’t win, and I know we will show this again in the future.”
