Attacking midfield man Almen Abdi expressed his delight after scoring on debut following the Owls’ final pre-season test of the summer.
Wednesday rounded off their pre-season schedule with a comfortable win over Port Vale at Hillsborough.
Goals from Tom Lees, Fernando Forestieri and a first for Almen Abdi sealed the win as Wednesday moved a step closer to the all-important curtain-raiser v Aston Villa next Sunday.
Head coach Carlos Carvalhal said: “We chose Abdi because he is a team worker, a fighter and has very good quality.
“It’s why sometimes we take more time to bring in players, the target of choosing players that meet our requests is not easy but we are very happy to bring a player like Almen to the club.”
