Owls quartet visit new community project

23 August 2016

Owls stars Sam Hutchinson, Steven Fletcher, Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer last week tried their hand at a raft of different sports to help support the Community Programme’s Premier League 4 Sport project.

The community project, which works in partnership with the Premier League, Sport England and sporting national bodies, is in its third year and works to deliver Sheffield Wednesday branded weekly satellite clubs in schools and community centres across the North of Sheffield.

The players took time to meet a group of the young participants on the project, try out some different sports and even take part in a table tennis game with the group.

The project delivers sports including table tennis, boxing, basketball, tennis, football, badminton, netball and golf to 100s of young people in community centres and sports clubs across Sheffield.

Isobel Dunn, Premier League Co-ordinator at Sheffield Wednesday, said: "The Community Programme are very thankful to both the players and the participants for their help to showcase the new and exciting projects we are going to be running next year.

“The afternoon was a lot of fun and we’re looking forward to another successful year for the project.”
