Special memories for Carlos

26 August 2016

The Owls created special memories at Griffin Park last season and not just because of the result.

A late Lucas Joao strike settled a thrilling capital encounter and it was the game where a song from the terraces would begin to truly take hold for the remainder of the season.

As the Owls players and staff were applauded from the pitch following their 2-1 victory, choruses of ‘Carlos had a dream’ were bellowed out loud and proud from the visitors and for Carlos, it is a day he will never forget.

“We can’t forget these moments, I remember it was that game and it was fantastic,” he said.

“It was a fantastic environment also, the game was very exciting, both teams down to ten players, a penalty, they press us a lot and in the last minute Lucas scored for 2-1.

“We can’t forget this game but it is the past and tomorrow is a different game. Let’s see which team will be more happy at the end.”

The Championship will take a back seat to international action following Saturday’s clash and Carlos says the break will come at a good time for his squad.

“It’s important the international break to us because the players like Buckley, Abdi and Jones have more time to understand the colleagues and the way we play,” he explained.

“Everybody will be more balanced after this period, some players will be able to recover and some will increase.

“But we have a game to play and we are focused only on the game and winning three points which is our target of course.”
