The countdown is on!

3 August 2016

The countdown to the new campaign is well and truly on!

Wednesday kick off their season on Sunday against Aston Villa at Hillsborough.

It will be the first meeting between the two sides since the Owls’ 1-0 win at Villa Park in November 2001 in the League Cup clash.

After completing an intense pre-season programme, rounded off by a comfortable 3-0 win over Port Vale last weekend, head coach Carlos Carvalhal says the Owls are ready to begin.

“We are ready to start the competition,” he said. “We did some things very good today, the result is not important, it is about the process.”

The Owls’ official website swfc.co.uk will have all the build-up to the game, along with the club’s social media channels – which will include live coverage of the pre-match press conferences via our Facebook page from Middlewood Road on Friday lunchtime.

Of course, our followers on Twitter can read all the key quotes and news and follow all the latest developments using the #swfc and #swfcLIVE hashtags.

Then into the game!

Once all the build-up and talking is complete, the Owls’ clash with Villa will kick off at 4.30pm live on Sky Sports.

For exclusive pictures and videos on the day, make sure you keep up to date with all club official social media channels.

Team news will be broken by our Twitter account @swfc around an hour before kick off and will have a running text commentary of the key action as it happens.

During the game, Wednesday PlayerHD will broadcast live match commentary and supporters can as ever get involved with all the latest discussions on the SWFC Facebook and Instagram accounts.

The club’s YouTube channel will have the post-match reaction from Carlos and the players as well as extended match highlights. With views on the channel approaching the 10 million-mark, head over now, subscribe for free and enjoy the action!
