Keiren Westwood told of his relief following Sam Hutchinson’s last-gasp leveller at Brentford on Saturday.
Westwood’s attempted clearance inadvertently rebounded off Lasse Vibe and into the back of the net to give the Bees a second half lead – but Hutchinson hit back for the visitors right at the last to earn a fully deserved point.
The Wednesday keeper said: “I tried to take an extra touch and got caught. These things happen and it was really frustrating.
“I have a lot of experience but you still live and learn. Thankfully we came up with a goal that we thoroughly deserved because we dominated so much of the game.
“I can’t describe how happy I was when I saw Sam’s header fly into the net.”
Westwood added: “The fans stuck with us and they were fantastic. They gave me a great reception at the end.
“Sheffield Wednesday is such a fantastic club to play for and we are lucky to have the backing that we do.”
