Always special nights

13 December 2016

As the build-up continues to tonight’s South Yorkshire derby between the Owls and Barnsley, Adam Reach says these games are always special occasions.

But the former Middlesbrough man insists it’s important for the players to stay focused on the task ahead.

With the Owls aiming for a return to winning ways and a return to the top six, Reach believes the atmosphere will spur on the players and said:

“Derbies are always good, the fans will be in good voices for both sides, it’s under the lights at Hillsborough and that is always good.

“We’ve had some good performances and dramatic results in these games so hopefully it will be a good game and we come out on top.”

He continued: “I’ve played in Burnley v Preston, Middlesbrough v Sunderland - derbies are always nice but at the end of the day it’s 11v11, that’s the way the players have got to see it and go all out to win.

“We want to pick up six points from the next two games and we know we’re capable of doing that if we play as well as we can.

“We want to move up that table and close the gap as much as we can to the team above us.”
