Wednesday are set to bolster their midfield options from 1 January with new recruit Callum McManaman beginning his half-season loan at Hillsborough.
Head coach Carlos Carvalhal is happy to bring in the West Brom winger, who has been on the Owls’ radar since the beginning of the campaign.
He told swfc.co.uk: “He’s a player that we have followed since the beginning of the season but we didn’t achieve the player in that moment.
“Now we have some problems in the wide areas with Buckley and Marco and so we decided to bring him.
“We are happy because he is a player who can give us creativity, he’s good at one to one attack and we need these kind of players.
“We can help him and he can help us a lot, he is a player we like at Sheffield Wednesday.”
McManaman will be eligible to feature for the club in the New Year and Carlos added:
“He wasn’t playing often at West Brom, he did well at Wigan before that.
“He wants to do well, to fight, to play and this is what we need all the time. We have a lot of games coming up and we need two players for each position, absolutely sure.”
