It felt amazing

14 December 2016

Sam Hutchinson has described the feeling as he fired the Owls into a two-goal lead against Barnsley on Tuesday night at Hillsborough.

The 27-year-old capped off a superb performance in the engine room with a crucial goal to give Wednesday a cushion in the South Yorkshire derby.

The all-action ex-Chelsea man says nothing can top the feeling of scoring and explained:

“If felt amazing. To be fair, if I scored in the park I would celebrate like that because there is no better feeling.

“The goalscorers are so lucky that they do that on a weekly basis. If I get one or two a season then I am buzzing with it so that’s where the celebration comes from!

“But it was more important that we won the game because we were disappointed after the Reading game.

“I don’t think it was our best performance of the season but we were more clinical, as a team we defended well and it’s always different in derby games.”

Wednesday now get back to work in preparation for another South Yorkshire derby on Saturday as Rotherham visit Hillsborough.

He added: “These games are brilliant, they’re the games you want to be involved in.

“We have got a great squad, everyone is together, I think we are a much better team than last season, we know each other better, we understand what the gaffer wants from us and we look forward to every game.”
