Keep it going

28 December 2016

Owls captain Glenn Loovens has said it is vital to keep up the current run of form.

Victory at Newcastle saw Wednesday maintain their position in the top six but with just four points separating third and seventh in table, Loovens said:

“It’s so important to keep winning in this league because if you don’t do that you will fall behind quite easily.

“We are very happy with our form of late and hopefully we can keep it going in this busy period.”

Loovens marked his 100th start for Wednesday by scoring the crucial goal at St James’ Park.

The Boxing Day victory was the Owls’ fifth from the last six games and the third clean sheet on the spin after wins over Barnsley and Rotherham at Hillsborough.

He added: “Going forward we are always a threat, as a team we are very organised and if we keep clean sheets we know we have the players to score at the other end.

“We are getting it right at both ends of the pitch.

“But we know in this league it is never going to be easy and now we start preparing now for another tough game on Saturday.”
