Big opportunity for Wednesday

25 February 2016

Ross Wallace feels Friday’s clash against league leaders Hull is a big opportunity for the Owls.

There are nine points separating the two sides and as Wednesday seek to close that gap, Wallace is keen to ensure the Owls stay in the mix, as he explained:

“It’s one of those games in your season where it’s not the be all and end all but we want to put in a good performance and show we are right in the mix.

“They are a very good side and can really hurt you, they have a good squad of players and were always going to be in contention, in my opinion.

“It’s a big game, a tough game but we are playing some good stuff and we look forward to it.”

With this the third game in six days, Carlos Carvalhal may make changes to the squad for the KC clash.

For Wallace, the draw in midweek with QPR was a source of frustration and irrespective of the starting XI and seven on the bench, the midfielder has confidence in the squad that the Owls can do themselves justice against the leaders of the pack.

“We played some good stuff the other night considering we never got the win but that’s what we want on Friday, to go and win the game.

“We need to start picking up results against these teams, they have all been close games and we have played pretty well for most of them.

“This is another opportunity for us and I’m sure whatever team is put out can go there and do the job.”
