Close games

3 February 2016

The Sky Bet Championship is as close as ever at the top.

To the neutral, a draw between the Owls and Burnley on Tuesday evening at Hillsborough may not have come as much of a surprise.

As the race for promotion hots up even further with clubs vying for position, Barry Bannan says the Owls will look upon Tuesday’s result as a point gained.

He said: “We will keep going and look on the Burnley draw as a point gained and now we’ll concentrate on the Birmingham game to get the three points there.

“The teams at the top are first and foremost very good teams, so these games are always going to be close.

“When we’ve played against teams in and around us, we have been comfortable and could have won them on another day.”

The Owls hit back through Kieran Lee in the second half to register what could prove an invaluable point and Bannan added:

“We were caught sleeping early doors and didn’t come out of traps how we wanted to.

“But after that they didn’t really have any chances, we just couldn’t get over the line at the end to score the winner.”
