Tom Lees and Michael Turner took a significant step towards a full return to action on Tuesday.
The experienced duo successfully came through a Development Squad fixture at Middlewood Road.
While Turner gained valuable game time in the FA Cup clash at Shrewsbury, the loanee continued on the road to recovery by storing a further 60 minutes under his belt in the Under-21 fixture.
Lees, who has been sidelined since the Owls’ Capital One Cup clash with Stoke in December, played 75 minutes and scored the second goal in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
Head coach Carlos Carvalhal said: “Tom Lees and Michael Turner both played because they need games.
“Turner played in the cup as you know because he stopped for a long time. He came from a long time that he didn’t play.
“He played on Saturday and then again on Tuesday.
“Tom Lees also played and as I said earlier in the week, he is ready.
“He hasn’t had games so we had a chance to put him to play and we are happy they both did very well.”
