Keeping up performances

24 February 2016

Wednesday remain firmly in the thick of the promotion picture having moved to fifth in the Championship on Tuesday.

But for Jack Hunt, all focus is on performances rather than promotion at this stage of the campaign.

It’s a belief shared throughout the dressing room that the most important thing is always the next game.

For full focus to be on collecting three points from the next encounter is all that matters.

After the 1-1 draw with QPR on Tuesday, Hunt said: “I’m not looking at the promotion race, I’m looking at the Hull game.

“Before we play Wolves on Saturday 7 May, I will look at it then and go from there. But as much as everyone wants promotion, we have to look at one game at a time.

“Obviously you have a look at the table but I’d rather concentrate on putting in good performances.”

Speaking of the Hull game, Hunt believes there is plenty to be positive about heading to the KC.

With players coming back to fitness, there was a place for club captain Glenn Loovens on the bench on Tuesday night against the R’s.

Fernando Forestieri will be back from suspension for the trip to Hull and with Sam Hutchinson making progress from a knee injury sustained at Birmingham earlier this month, Hunt added:

“It will give the head coach a few headaches because everybody is playing well.

“Fernando and Sam have played a big part this season and it will be good when we have those players back.”
