Opposition view – All about mentality

23 February 2016

QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says his side must show the right mentality to compete with the Owls at Hillsborough.

With just two wins from the last 14 games in all competitions, the R’s head to Hillsborough as underdogs but the Dutchman wants to see his side stand up and be counted this evening.

“It is going to be a test for us, but that is this league and that’s what we are facing. Can we show we are as good, or better, than a team who are competing at the top of the division?

“They have a good team, they have players who are Premier League players so it will be a strong test and we need to show the right mentality for the challenge.”

Wednesday are joint-top scorers at home with 32 goals scored at Hillsborough. Only Burnley have scored as many on home soil and that is just one of the challenges facing QPR.

Hasselbaink added: “Our mentality, the mentality at the club, the change at the club – we are already starting with that.

“We want to improve match after match and put our foundations down for the way we want to be – the way we need to be.

“We are professionals and every game we have to turn up. We have an obligation to fans and our bosses.”
