Recognised in different colours

25 February 2016

The Owls’ football philosophy is one to be proud of and a big factor as to why supporters have enjoyed the 15/16 campaign so far, according to the head coach.

Carlos Carvalhal says the philosophy at the club will become stronger and key to future successes.

Ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Hull on Friday, he said: “We are consistent, we are jumping positions and we are in a good way.

“When everybody goes and sees Sheffield Wednesday, they see a philosophy.

“If you put the team out wearing a different colour, I am sure that our fans would recognise our team by the way that we play.

“We have one way and one philosophy here and this is very important.”

In Carlos’ usual engaging manner, he continued: “I don’t want to tell you who this conversation was with, but I said to a colleague from an opposite after a game, ‘congratulations because your team is really very consistent.’

“Out of respect I won’t say who that was but he said back to me, ‘no, you and your staff deserve congratulations because I am here in English football for 20 years and coach of my team for two or three years.

“’You arrive three or four months ago and you are doing everything new; new players, new team, everything is new. So it’s amazing in a few months, you are playing like this.’”

Moving forward and with 13 games of the season left to play, Carlos wants to see that balance in the team and philosophy continue to shine though on the field.

He went on to say: “It’s not easy but what I can say is we are doing better all the time. Let’s see what we will do game by game, month by month and see what position we have.

“The balance at the moment is fantastic.”
