The best enemy

12 February 2016

In terms of winning games and hitting form, Wednesday are right up there with the best in the Sky Bet Championship.

With five wins from the last eight games, there are many positives to take – not least of all jumping back into the play-off pack.

But Carlos Carvalhal believes that victories can also be an enemy, in terms of masking faults within the team.

He explained: “The best enemy of the coaches is the victories.

“With the victories sometimes you can relax, you think that everything is ok because you are winning.

“But when this happens, we try to focus on the things that we can improve all the time.

“There are things we can improve and do better. My team will give a better answer this weekend in some aspects of the game that we have tried to improve this week.”

Brentford are the visitors on Saturday, who will arrive at Hillsborough looking to reignite their play-off push having fallen to a 3-0 loss at Brighton last time out.

Carlos continued: “We are ready for the difficulties of this game, we have a lot of respect to Brentford but we are sure it will be a very tough game to them also.”
