When it comes to form over the past six games, only Burnley can match the Owls’ achievements so far in 2016.

Both the Owls and the Clarets have collected 14 points from a possible 18 in 2016 and sit joint top of the form table over the past six games.

The outstanding victory over Birmingham on Saturday saw the Owls climb back into the top six but striker Gary Hooper is not getting carried away, with plenty of football to be played.

Hooper – who is in red hot form in the Owls’ attack – said: “We’ll take it game by game, as we have done from the beginning.

“We knew Saturday’s game was a six-pointer and a very big result for us. It’s always a tough place to go.

“We are six points off Hull in second place but a lot can change.

“We’re one point off Derby and they were top of the league not so long ago. Things are looking good for us but we have to take it week by week.”

Wednesday return to Hillsborough this weekend, defending a 14-game unbeaten run on home soil.

Brentford are the visitors and supporters can listen live on Wednesday PlayerHD and watch the full game replay from midday on Sunday.
