Attitude, quality and representing the Owls

28 January 2016

Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal says the most important factor in determining the outcome of Saturday’s trip to Shrewsbury is the attitude of the players.

As the Owls aim to book their place in the fifth round against League One strugglers Shrewsbury, Carlos explained the importance of attitude and playing at 100%.

“If we play at 100% and they play at 100% we will have more chances than them to win,” Carlos said.

“They will have more chances if we don’t play at 100%.

“We are in a higher division so it is normal that we have more quality but it is not just quality that wins games, it is attitude that is very important.

“Sometimes the attitude of the teams are higher than the quality, that’s why surprises appear.”

But one thing is for sure, the head coach has his sights set on cup progression and will name a team to stay on course in that mission.

“We will take this absolutely seriously like we do all the games,” he continued.

“When Sheffield Wednesday play in all the games, we go there to win the game with the players we think are the best to win the game.

“If there are players with small problems, we will not put them to play or even in the squad because we don’t want the risks but this is what we are doing since the start of the season.”
