Bannan strike voted FA Cup Goal of the Round

11 January 2016

Barry Bannan has won the Emirates FA Cup goal of the third round after his superb strike against Fulham.

The Scottish international’s sweetly struck shot from 25-yards received 47% of the vote on the Emirates FA Cup official Twitter account, edging out Leeds winger Mustapha Carayol.

The accolade comes just a week after fellow Scot Ross Wallace was awarded both the Sky Bet Championship and Sky Sports News HQ goal of the weekend for his sensational effort at Craven Cottage.

Bannan’s goal against the Whites on Saturday was his second of the season in all competitions, having opened his account in a Wednesday shirt last December in our 2-2 draw away at Cardiff City.

Wednesday secured a safe passage to the fourth round of the FA Cup after Atdhe Nuhiu’s strike separated the sides in the 2-1 victory, registering their third win over Fulham in the 2015/16 campaign.

The draw for the next round will take place at around 7.00pm tonight live on BBC One’s The One Show with the Owls ball number 15.
