Competition can spur Owls to big things

27 January 2016

Jack Hunt believes the competition for places across all areas will play a big factor in the Owls’ push for the Premier League.

The Owls’ promotion credentials will certainly be put to the test in the coming weeks but Hunt feels there is plenty of quality in the squad to stand up to those demands.

He said: “The squad size is great, if someone gets injured or if anyone needs a rest the manager isn’t afraid to change things so there’s good competition for places.

“It’s very healthy to have that competition and if you get in, you know you have to play well because if you don’t you’re probably not going to play the next game.

“Liam and I will be looking forward to challenging each other for however long to come.”

Hunt – now a full time Owl having completed his switch to Hillsborough from Crystal Palace earlier in the window – has one big target he wants to achieve in S6 and that is to make a return to the top flight.

He added: “I think we’ve come a really long way. With the Chairman’s ambition, I think promotion is definitely a realistic target.

“There’s a real belief that we can achieve something special.”
