Happiest time for Bannan

22 January 2016

Barry Bannan says the combination of playing and winning games is making his time at Hillsborough the happiest he’s known in football.

While the midfield dynamo continues to play an integral part in the Owls’ 2015/16 campaign, he is very much enjoying the flurry of victories that have come hand in hand.

The 26-year-old wants that feeling to remain at Hillsborough and, now in the play-offs, wants to stay in the top six.

“This is the happiest I have been in football without a doubt,” he said.

“If you’re playing football week in, week out and winning which we are at the minute, then you will always enjoy that.

“I’ve never had that before so it’s definitely the happiest I’ve been.”

A positive January both on and off the pitch has gone some way to whet the midfielder’s appetite for the rest of the season.

Having won all four fixtures in 2016 so far, climbed into the top six and made a number of key signings, Bannan looks forward to the fulfilling the bursting potential at S6.

He continued: “This is a club on the up, everybody is positive around the training ground, we’re bringing in good players and keeping good players which is brilliant.

“We’re not looking too far ahead, but we’re happy to be in the play-offs at the minute and we’ll take each game as it comes.”
