Glenn Loovens has spoken of his delight having signed a new two and a half year deal with the Owls.
The Wednesday captain says he has been enjoying his football immensely at Hillsborough and was eager to sign a new deal when conversations began.
“I’m absolutely delighted, I’ve been talking to the chairman for a couple of weeks and it’s been finalised today,” he told swfc.co.uk.
“I’m pleased with adding an extra two and a half years and I’m really looking forward.
“Like I have said before I’m enjoying my football at the minute and my family are pleased, so I’m glad to have a longer deal.” Loovens is one of five senior players to commit their long term future to the club this week and the skipper believes keeping the squad together is vital for the well-being of Wednesday.
He added: “If you feel like it’s going well as a group of players as well as everything around it, it’s key to keep this together and keep the momentum going and the chairman is doing that.
“Stability is a main part of it and why I’m delighted we have signed up for the long term here.”
