Owls fans wanted for fitness programme

26 January 2016

The Sheffield Wednesday Steel City Fit Club is on the lookout for new recruits and is encouraging Owls fans to sign up.

The group, led by former Owls striker John Pearson, is looking for new people to take part in a 12-week course of low impact, football related fitness sessions held at Hillsborough every Tuesday, 10am – 12pm.

Funded by Sport England, the fit club gives people across Sheffield the chance to get more physically active as well as enjoy fun and engaging education sessions about gaining a healthy lifestyle.

The project is being run by Sheffield International Venues (SIV) and is working with the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme and the Sheffield United Community Foundation to deliver fitness programmes to help people improve their health and fitness.

Ken Hargreaves, 69, took part in the scheme’s first programme. He said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the club at Hillsborough and it has helped me lose weight and I feel a lot healthier. I also recently quit smoking and I feel 100 per cent better already!"

For more information and to sign up contact John Pearson on 0114 2212150 or e-mail john.pearson@swfc.co.uk
