Owls held at Bolton

31 January 2016

The Owls’ Under-18s posted a hard-fought point in blustery conditions at Bolton on Saturday.

A 0-0 draw was the result but if there was to be a winner, Wednesday looked by far the more likely.

The visitors dominated the lion’s share of the game and thought they had secured the points 15 minutes from time when George Hirst netted but the strike was ruled out for the most narrow of offsides.

Coach Paul Murray said: “From my point of view, the first half was probably the best half I have seen from the lads since I came here.

“We had most of the possession and created chances but they were well marshalled by the back four.

“I think if the goal had stood in the second half we would have deserved the win but it wasn’t to be.

“Overall, we need to show a ruthless streak to win games but in terms of the performance, I was pleased.”
