Following a long enforced absence, the Under-18s returned to action with a 3-2 win over local rivals Leeds at Middlewood Road on Saturday.
An entertaining encounter saw chances at either end and it was Wednesday who emerged triumphant.
Leeds opened the scoring in the first half before good approach play from Warren Clarke put George Hirst in position to fire the Owls level.
Early in the second half, though, the Whites were back in the ascendancy, only for Wednesday to hit back through Clarke.
With both sides going for a winner, there were openings at either end, but it was the Owls and Leyton Swayne that took the honours with a late strike.
The league contest was the first for the Under-18s since 11 December due to the festive break and inclement weather since.
