Positive spirit in Owls camp

29 January 2016

Modou Sougou is happy to bide his time in gaining a more regular slot in the Owls’ starting line-up.

The Senegalese has featured 14 times this season and, although would like to rack up many more appearances, is happy to be remain patient.

With everyone connected to the club working towards the same goal, Sougou said:

“I understand that when I came here, we have a very talented team and we have to be patient.

“The players who are not playing are important because we have so many games.

“We have to prepare ourselves and be ready to play.

“I am experienced in football and know it’s my job to be ready. The players who are playing are doing well and we support the team.”

Sougou could well be called into action this weekend as the Owls face a tricky test in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Shrewsbury.

A cup clash on Saturday followed by a huge night of Championship football on Tuesday as the Owls host Burnley, is likely to see head coach Carlos Carvalhal make changes along the way.

Sougou added: “The positive spirit we have is why the team are doing good because if you have players who are out and they bring negative spirit, it’s not good for the team.

“We understand this and all the time our objective is to go in the Premier League and right now we are happy.”
