All change for Wednesday

25 July 2016

The Owls’ pre-season tour moved across Portugal to picturesque Portimao in the Monday night sun.

Wednesday were hosted by second tier side Portimonense in a training ground exercise that effectively saw two different teams fielded by both clubs throughout. The game ended 3-2 to Portimonense.

Sean Clare put through his own goal trying to prevent what would have been a simple tap-in for Paulinho at the back post in the opening period, before Tabata and Zambujo extended the lead after the break.

Fernando Forestieri and Steven Fletcher hit back late on for Wednesday but Portimonense held out to win by the odd goal in five.

The training match wrapped up the Owls’ time in Portugal and the squad head home to England on Tuesday morning.
