Another positive step was the verdict of Carlos Carvalhal following the 4-0 win over CD Nacional in Portugal on Sunday evening.

The Owls were comfortable throughout the friendly fixture and the head coach reflected on a job well done at the Estadio Municipal.

He told swfc.co.uk: “There were more positives that I saw tonight, much more than negatives.

“We are on the road in this process and I am happy with where we are.

“We are scoring goals and we have only taken one goal, which was in the last minute against Alfreton.

“We are playing well, we are compact and I am pleased to see Steven Fletcher score his first goal for us.

“But to me it does not matter who scores the goals as long as we are doing things the correct way.”

On the other side of the coin, Carvalhal saw Sam Hutchinson and Jack Hunt withdrawn in the first half but is confident that both players will not spend too much time on the treatment table.

He said: “Sam and Jack came off early and they will not play tomorrow but I am confident they will be back to the training next week.

“But all the players who started today will not play tomorrow, absolutely sure.”
