Having completed his switch to Wednesday early in pre-season, Steven Fletcher is now looking forward to a fresh challenge at Hillsborough.
The Owls’ pre-season fixture schedule gets underway next week with a trip to Alfreton on Wednesday 13 July.
From then, the games come thick and fast with Chesterfield (16 July) and Benfica (20 July) before jetting off to Portugal for the five-day training camp.
Keen to get the ball rolling, Fletcher said: “The players are working hard, we’ve got a few pre-season games coming up and that is something to look forward to.
“When I got the call to come here, I drove down straight away so it was good to get it all sorted nice and early.
“I know a few of the lads and what they achieved last year and I know they all want to build on that which is our aim.”
The experienced striker scored goals last season in the Premier League, the Euro qualifiers and the French top flight.
And the striker is now ready for the challenge ahead in the Championship, where Fletcher is expecting is tough season ahead.
“This is a great club to be at, it’s going to be a tough league this year, especially with the teams that have come down and how strong the other teams are getting, so it will be a good league.
“I spoke to Baz before coming here and he told me how good a place it is so I can’t wait to get going.”
