Carlos Carvalhal was pleased to get the Owls’ pre-season underway with a routine 1-1 draw against Alfreton the Impact Arena.
Wednesday’s summer schedule began in Derbyshire and a comfortable performance saw the Owls field two teams to give valuable playing time to each member of the squad.
Carvalhal said: “It was a hard season last season but we were looking forward to starting again.
“I was happy with a lot of things in this game, the way we moved the ball.
“Alfreton were compact and made us work, we moved the ball and had space to move the ball and we did some good things.
“We did very few mistakes and Barry Bannan scored a very good goal.
“We are right at the start of the process for the season and we will continue to grow fitter and stronger.”
