Jose Semedo says his main wish was to remain a Sheffield Wednesday player and is delighted after signing a new contract with the club.
The ever-popular midfield ace put pen to paper on the new deal on the day the Owls squad linked back up for the first day of pre-season.
“I’m so happy to sign a new deal, I am where I want to be,” he told swfc.co.uk.
“I was always dreaming and wishing to be here and I want to thank everybody for all the wishes they gave me to stay and hopefully we can have another successful season.
“I always wanted to be here and I’m obviously looking forward to the new campaign. That’s not only me, I’m sure all the supporters are looking forward.
“Hopefully we can do better than last year and I am sure we will improve as a team.”
Semedo has been with Wednesday every step of the way since promotion from League 1 in 2011/12 to where the Owls are today.
And as Wednesday re-group for the campaign ahead, the Portuguese is confident his team can continue to move in the right direction.
He added: “Since I have come here, I have seen a lot of improvements and we are always moving forward and I hope we can do that again.
“I am here to do my best like I always do. We are a squad of players, and though only 11 can play, we are a team and if one wins, then everyone wins.”
