Midfield man Sam Hutchinson says the Owls will take all the positives from the 2015/16 campaign and only grow stronger as a team from this point onwards.
Having come so close to a return to the top flight, the former Chelsea man says that will now serve as inspiration for everyone at the club to go one better.
Firmly believing Wednesday will only get stronger following the Wembley play-off final, he said:
“To be so close as a team, it’s so disappointing because we had expectations but we go again next season and fingers crossed we can do it then.
“I think we only get stronger as a team from this point.
“This experience will make us stronger, when you lose a game like this, you take bits out of it and next season we will have a right go.
“We have to be positive. Because we were so close, at the moment, we are really disappointed but we have had a great season and we will only get better.”
He added: “We have a great manager, unbelievable fans, we have got a good team and with a couple of additions for next season, we will go again and that’s what we have to focus on.”
