Owls NCS programme make Sky Sports News

11 March 2016

The Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme have been in the media spotlight this week when the programme’s NCS team appeared on Sky Sports News as part of the TV channel’s special community feature.

The Sheffield NCS team work with hundreds of young people every year to help improve lives of others by volunteering and fundraising for good local causes. This week, Sky Sports went along to film graduates taking part in a national NCS action day.

The volunteering day saw young people who have completed the NCS programme carry out volunteering at Hillcare care home in Sheffield. Sky spoke to NCS manager Lucy Shuttleworth and Football League Trust Youth Engagement Officer Tony Buck about the excellent work that the Community Programme and the NCS team do in the city.

Owls star Barry Bannan has shown support to the NCS and last week visited Ecclesfield Secondary School to help recruit young people to take part in the programme. His team mates also helped support the project by wearing NCS t-shirts during the warm ups before the Brentford game at Hillsborough.
