Owls undone by Leeds

8 March 2016

The Owls’ Under-21s went down 2-0 to local rivals Leeds at Hillsborough on Monday night.

Goals either side of the break ensured victory for the Whites against a young Wednesday outfit containing only one senior member – Joe Wildsmith, who returned to duty following a lengthy spell out injured.

The Owls’ line-up got progressively younger in the second half, with the likes of Brad Beatson, Lewis Price and Jack Lee gaining valuable playing time.

Wildsmith kept Wednesday in the game with a fine save on 70 minutes but could do little with six minutes to go when Frank Mulhern doubled the lead.

Wednesday: Wildsmith, Booker, Penney (Beatson 41), Kirby, De Haviland, Anderson (Price 68), Stobbs, Meadows (Lee 60), Hirst, Clarke, Centeno
