The evolution of the team

19 March 2016

Carlos Carvalhal said his team has evolved over the season after Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Charlton at Hillsborough.

The Owls came out 3-0 winners against the Addicks with strikes from Tom Lees, Fernando Forestieri and an El-Hadji Ba own goal.

Carvalhal said: “During the season we have evolved as a team.

“We have a number of ways we can play against different teams and we showed this today.

“We made changes at half time and this gave us more space in attacking positions.

“It shows that we have different options and can adjust to situations during games.

“We will continue to grow as a team in the last games.”

Nearly 30,000 fans were in attendance at Hillsborough and Carvalhal wanted his team to embrace the occasion.

The head coach added: “I said to the team before the game that I am not a jealous man.

“But today I felt jealous of my players, being able to walk out and play here at Hillsborough in front of so many fans.

“I told them to enjoy having the ball and playing attacking football.

“We now look forward to the international break as we have seven games next month and everybody knows we have to be ready for this.”
