Full steam ahead to the play-offs – that is the message from Carlos Carvalhal following the conclusion of the regular Championship season.
The Owls signed off with a 2-1 reverse at Wolves having fielded a much-changed team before the reversion to type on Friday when Brighton visit Hillsborough for the first leg of the end of term lottery.
Carvalhal said: “I was more pleased with the second half as we saw an even game and the players got a very welcome 90 minutes to their name.
“It was good also to see Jack Stobbs from the academy on the pitch with Joe Wildsmith and Liam Palmer.
“But, of course, our focus is on the play-offs, which is why we make so many changes.
“I must protect the players as we have a very intense week ahead that will end with Brighton in the play-offs on Friday.
“Today, the players gave an energetic performance and there were a lot of positives from this game.
“We were unfortunate with the first goal, the second goal was good, and after we scored the penalty, we could have equalised.
“We have a strong squad, for sure, and we saw that, certainly in the second half today.”
