No better place

27 May 2016

The eyes of the footballing world will be fixed on the Championship play-off final on Saturday evening.

Sheffield Wednesday are set to go head to head with Hull, competing for the biggest prize in the game – a place in the Premier League.

Loovens has seen many ups and downs since joining the Owls in November 2013 and says the club have come a long way since then.

The skipper wants nothing more than to help Wednesday return to the top flight after a 16-year absence and says Wembley would be the perfect venue to achieve it.

“We are so close now so we have to make sure we go all the way,” he said.

“I don’t think there is a better place to do it than at the biggest and best stadium there is but we have 90 minutes at least to play so let’s go for it.

“This game will be one of the highlights of my career and I will do anything required on the day to make sure we’ll do it.

“It would be an unbelievable achievement for everyone, if you see how far we have come and now we have got to Wembley.

“It’s not just been the first 11, we have got such a good squad and every one of them has been outstanding.”
