Something to build on

9 May 2016

Owls academy product Jack Stobbs made his second appearance for the club on Saturday afternoon.

In Wednesday’s final fixture of the regular season away at Wolves, Stobbs came off the bench in the 79th minute.

The 19-year-old’s only previous appearance was back in April 2014 in the Owls’ Championship clash with Bolton at Hillsborough.

After the game, which finished 2-1 to Wolves, Stobbs tweeted:

“Absolutely loved being back out there today after a long time, shame about the result but personally something for me to build on!”

Carlos Carvalhal added: “A positive from the game was that we were able to use Stobbs from our Under-21s.

“As you know, Joe Wildsmith and Liam Palmer also came from the academy so it’s very good for the club to see these players in the first team.”

Stobbs joined the Owls academy as an eight-year-old and signed his first professional contract with Wednesday in 2014.
