Carlos Carvalhal set over 30,000 Wednesdayites a challenge on Friday – and the head coach says they gave ‘the perfect answer’ 24 hours later.
Ahead of the crunch clash with Cardiff, Carvalhal said that, even when mistakes are made, even when a pass goes astray, the fans must give even more and help the players over the line and into the play-offs.
And speaking to the assembled media at Hillsborough after his side swept away the Bluebirds 3-0, Carvalhal could hardly disguise his delight:
“I gave our massive fans a challenge. They gave the perfect answer. Absolutely perfect.
“Of course, there were moments when passes did not reach and when moves broke down.
“But our fans just made more and more noise and it was incredible to hear. This was so important to the players.
“Hillsborough is a fantastic place for football and I am very, very pleased that all those supporters went home with big smiles on their faces.”
