A lot of positives

21 November 2016

Owls skipper Glenn Loovens says Wednesday can take a lot of positives from the draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Wednesday led until late in the contest through Fernando Forestieri but were pegged back right at the last.

Though disappointed to leave the capital with just one point, Loovens believes Wednesday can take plenty from the game and said:

“We can take a lot of positives, especially from the first half. I thought we were excellent, gave nothing away and created a lot of chances.

“We were disappointed not to score a second and from there you know you’re in for a difficult second half.

“Going forward and defensively we were excellent as a group in the first half.

“The manager wanted his players to stand up and perform and I think on that side of things, we can take a lot of positives out of the game and look forward to the next one.”

The Cottagers went into Saturday’s clash in good form with back to back wins, including an impressive 5-0 triumph over Huddersfield on home soil.

Loovens feels the Owls stood up to the task and says the group will now look to build on that point and performance heading to Wolves this weekend.

“They were playing at home and we knew it would be tough and that they would try everything to get back in the game,” he added.

“We didn’t keep the ball as well in the second half but like I said there are a lot of positives to take out of this game and now we look forward.”
